The Fisher 46 outboard electric motor is designed for installation on inflatable boats with a transom height of 381 mm and 508 mm, as well as on plastic and aluminum vessels. It can be used as a main engine, auxiliary maneuvering or trolling. It is designed for boats up to 4.5 meters long with a total weight of up to 1000 kilograms. Due to its economy, stable speed maintenance and quiet operation, it is excellent for fishing, hunting and recreation on the water, providing comfortable and environmentally friendly sailing without harmful emissions and noise.
Advantages of the model
Fisher 46 has many advantages. First of all, it is an affordable price with high manufacturing quality. Strong and corrosion-resistant materials are used for production: impact-resistant ABS plastic, cast aluminum, lightweight and reliable fiberglass, as well as nylon. This design ensures durability and reliability. Operation is minimally expensive - all that is needed for operation is a fully charged traction battery, which eliminates the need for gasoline, engine or transmission oil and allows you to avoid difficulties with preserving the engine for the winter period. Management is convenient thanks to the telescopic tiller with adjustable length, which ensures comfortable boat control. In addition, it is environmentally friendly - the absence of exhaust gases and noise creates a favorable atmosphere for relaxation. Low weight makes it easier to carry and install the device. To monitor the battery status, an LED charge indicator is provided, which allows you to monitor the voltage of the traction battery in real time.
The electric motor with graphite brushes is protected from corrosion and water ingress. During operation, it is under water, which provides effective cooling by the incoming water flow and prevents overheating during prolonged operation at high speeds. This design allows the propeller to be mounted directly on the shaft without additional gears and bearings, significantly reducing the risk of mechanical breakdowns.
Operating recommendations
It is categorically not recommended to use ordinary car acid batteries for connection. Only traction gel or AGM batteries should be used, which not only have the necessary characteristics, but also can work in an inclined position, which is convenient when operating on a boat. The battery capacity should not be lower than the recommended one - 120 ampere-hours, because with a lower capacity, the discharge rate increases, which shortens the motor operating time and reduces the battery life. It is important to avoid deep discharge of the battery: the voltage should not fall below 10.5 volts, otherwise irreversible changes occur that significantly reduce the number of charge-discharge cycles and the battery life. The weight of the recommended battery is about 35 kilograms, which must be taken into account when planning boat loading and transportation. The battery should also be fully charged after each trip to the water, especially before the start of the season, due to the fact of self-discharge. The Fisher 46 electric motor is not intended for launching a boat on a speedboat - it is designed for movement in water mode.
Construction and materials
The main unit is made of ABS plastic, which is resistant to ultraviolet radiation and protects the electronics from moisture and dust. The plastic retains its properties over time, does not crack or fade. The aesthetic appearance of the case is complemented by a streamlined shape and rich black color. The tiller is used to control the direction of the boat and switch gears. It is equipped with a rubber pad with a grooved surface that prevents slipping in the hands in wet weather. The length of the tiller is adjustable from 18 to 30 centimeters, which allows you to choose a comfortable position for work.
The stand is made of durable and lightweight fiberglass, inside which the motor power wires pass. This material protects the stand from damage during collisions with bottom obstacles, sunken branches and other objects. To adjust the depth of the propeller immersion, it is enough to loosen the coupling screw, move the stand to the desired position and tighten the fastener back.
Fastening and adjustment
The Fisher electric motor is fixed to the boat transom using a special mounting block, which includes two clamps with reinforced nylon frames and clamping metal screws. This provides reliable and uniform clamping force. Installation and removal do not require the use of tools and are performed manually in a matter of minutes. The mechanism for changing the tilt of the rack allows you to install it in one of ten positions in 10-degree increments - from a raised horizontal position to a vertical lowered position. This is convenient when moving in shallow water and when servicing the propeller. The position is fixed with a characteristic click. To adjust the turning force, there is a screw on the mounting block that can be tightened or loosened, which facilitates long-term straight movement or maneuvering.
The motor is equipped with eight gears: five forward and three reverse, which provides smooth and precise control of the boat's speed over a wide range. The maximum thrust is 46 pounds or about 21 kilograms, power is 480 watts, current consumption is 40 amps, and the engine speed reaches 1300 revolutions per minute. The unit is powered by a 12-volt traction battery of the gel or AGM type with a recommended capacity of at least 120 ampere-hours. The battery connection cable is 1.25 meters long.
The energy stored in the 120 Ah battery is enough to operate at maximum speed for about three hours, which allows you to cover approximately 24 kilometers on calm water without wind. The mass of the unit itself is only 7.8 kilograms, and its dimensions are 92 centimeters at the height of the stand and 123 centimeters - full height with the tiller installed.
Propellers
The outboard motor comes with two propellers made of impact-resistant plastic: a three-bladed one with a diameter of 8.6 inches and a two-bladed one with a diameter of 10.25 inches. The two-bladed propeller has a higher efficiency, which increases the efficiency of battery energy consumption, but it experiences a greater load on the blades at the same speed than the three-bladed one. The plastic of the blades has an optimal balance of strength and flexibility: with small impacts, the blades bend slightly, and with strong impacts, either the blades or the key break, which prevents damage to the engine. No complex tools are required to replace the propeller or key - the kit includes all the necessary elements for installation, including a nut, washer, key and wrench.
Installing the screw is simple: a key is inserted into the shaft hole, then the screw is put on so that the key enters the groove on the screw body, after which the washer is attached and the nut is tightened with a wrench.
Battery charge indicator
The top panel of the boat motor housing has an LED battery charge indicator. It displays the voltage level in an intuitive way and is equipped with a backlight, thanks to which you can monitor the battery status even in complete darkness. The indicator is divided into two zones: green - safe charge, red - low voltage. This allows you to detect the need to charge the battery in time and avoid deep discharge, which shortens the battery life and can lead to its failure.
